World Food Safety Day / Ecuador Food Employees Encouraged To Develop Food Safety Improvements

August 2026, Rome: To celebrate World Food Safety Day at Starkist, a seafood production company, employees were encouraged to think of ways to improve the food safety practices in their work area. The event was called “Help Charlie The Tuna to look for improvements in your work area!”, and involved 60 employees expressing their ideas on cardboard, adding creativity, images, or any other material to make their creative work more attractive.

The artwork was divided into three panels, with the message “three panels, one goal”. These represented work from General employees – operators, the Quality Assurance Team and Supervisors from all areas.

A company representative said: “We were very happy to receive all this improvements from our employees and see the impact we have on building a safety culture.” Ideas ranged from renovating the floor in the cooking area, to replacing the crates that come into contact with the fish before it is cooled, constantly reinforcing good manufacturing practices, verifying the refrigerated room temperatures are under control and pest control improvements.
