Silk Extends Protein Line into Yogurt and Ready-to-Drink Shakes

Danone’s Silk brand is adding two new products to its Silk Protein range: a plant-based yogurt and a shelf-stable ready-to-drink protein shake, both rolling out across US retail this summer.

Silk Protein Yogurt is available in 5.3oz individual cups in vanilla, strawberry, peach, and mixed berry, as well as a 24oz vanilla tub. The yogurt is made entirely from soy protein and contains 13g of complete plant protein per serving in the tub format and 12g per individual cup.

Soy protein, complete and exclusive

According to the company, this represents twice the average protein content of the US plant-based yogurt segment, and Silk claims it is the only plant-based yogurt in which 100% of the protein comes from a complete protein source. The product also provides 4g of fiber per serving and is a source of calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, iodine, and phosphorus.

Into a new format

Silk Protein Shakes mark the brand’s first entry into shelf-stable, ready-to-drink protein formats. Each 11.15 fl oz bottle delivers 30g of complete soy protein, 5g of fiber, 2g of sugar, and 180 calories, with no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. The shakes will be sold in vanilla and chocolate in a four-count Tetra Pack and will be stocked in the protein shake aisle rather than the refrigerated plant-based section.

The yogurt rollout begins in late June; the shakes follow in July.
