The American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates has passed a resolution directing the organization to increase plant-based food options at its own professional meetings, citing both individual health outcomes and environmental impact.

Consumers who regularly buy plant-based meat and dairy alternatives cite health above environmental concern as their primary motivation, according to new data from UK-based market research agency EcoVox. The findings, drawn from a survey of 6,000 adults across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the US conducted in March 2026, are published in EcoVox’s inaugural People’s Eco ’26 report.

The candidate modulates gamma-secretase, an enzyme involved in the production of amyloid-beta peptides, which have long been implicated in Alzheimer’s. According to the press release , Eli Lilly will assume responsibility for the further development and commercialisation of the programme.
