The Vegetarian Butcher Collective has appointed Rutger Rozendaal as Chief Executive Officer, completing a planned leadership transition less than a year after the integration of plant-based brands The Vegetarian Butcher and Vivera.

The APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA) has been granted Observer status with the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the joint food standards body of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The designation gives the Singapore-headquartered association a formal channel to contribute technical input on international food safety and regulatory standards affecting cultivated meat, cultivated seafood and precision fermentation.

Lantmännen Research Foundation has opened its 2026 funding call, offering SEK 25 million (around €2.3M) across three focus areas: agriculture and machinery, food and health, and bioenergy and green materials. The latter two categories prioritise research into grain and legume-based foods and bio-based materials. The call is open to researchers at universities, colleges and institutes in Sweden and internationally.

Rather than assessing patients’ symptoms, the Cambridge team analyzed fluid taken from the lungs of patients admitted to the hospital with suspected pneumonia. Their results indicated that although each of the three different “pneumotypes” of severe pneumonia was associated with how the patients recovered, none could be reliably identified using standard blood tests.
