In his welcome address, Shri Sanjay Goyal, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Power Department, Government of Meghalaya, and CMD, MeECL, said, “By aligning national and state-level incentives, distributed renewable energy coupled with storage can become a game changer for the North-Eastern states, especially where power supply costs are high.”

The partnership will bring together TERI’s research and technical expertise and the capabilities of MeECL and its subsidiaries, Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (MePDCL), Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (MePTCL), and Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Ltd (MePGCL), to support an integrated, reliable and future-ready electricity system for Meghalaya. Mr Alekhya Datta, Director, Electricity & Renewables Division, TERI, highlighted, “Alongside financial incentives, DISCOM officials need continuous training and hands-on support to effectively manage and accelerate the integration of emerging distributed renewable energy solutions.”
