US biotech player Dyadic International has signed a development and commercial license deal with a European partner to add more precision-fermented dairy proteins to its lineup.
Dyadic International is adding more cow-free dairy proteins to its pipeline via a new development and commercial license partnership with a European biotech company.
The agreement reflects Dyadic’s commercialisation strategy of combining strategic development collaborations with commercial partnerships. As part of the deal, Dyadic will receive development and commercial payments, licensing-related revenues, and other potential payouts tied to successful commercialisation, creating multiple pathways for future profit generation.
“Together with the commercialisation of recombinant bovine chymosin through our partnership with Inzymes and our ongoing bovine alpha-lactalbumin collaboration with Brig Bio, we are building a diversified pipeline of precision-fermented dairy proteins and enzymes,” said Dyadic president and COO Joe Hazelton.
He added that the agreement with its new European partner represented “another important step in expanding Dyadic’s commercial food and nutrition pipeline”.
Dyadic’s precision fermentation platform solves cost, scale and regulatory challenges

Dyadic uses a proprietary precision fermentation platform, called Dapibus, to develop recombinant proteins that are sold or licensed to food and nutrition, life sciences, bioindustrial, and biopharma companies.
Its tech helps lower the per-kg costs of precision-fermented proteins with high yields, enables consistent production from lab to industrial scale, and achieves native-like taste, texture, and nutrition through proper folding and bioactivity.
The company provides companies with a more stable, industrial-level supply of proteins, streamlines the transition from R&D to food-grade with platforms designed for global regulatory compliance, and lowers the associated environmental impact and resource use.
It has already commercialised a range of proteins, including human and bovine alpha-lactalbumin, human lactoferrin, bovine transferrin, and bovine fibroblast growth factor (for cultivated meat, among other applications). It’s currently co-developing non-animal dairy enzymes with a partner.
Speaking of which, Dyadic collaborates with manufacturers over more than just animal-free dairy proteins – it can also create functional food proteins to enhance texture, nutrition and digestibility; nutritional and bioactive proteins for targeted health benefits like immune, digestive and metabolic support; and food-grade media components optimised for large-scale fermentation systems.
Its partnerships demonstrate how the Dapibus platform can repeatedly generate scalable, cost-effective, and commercially relevant dairy proteins and enzymes by rapidly developing and manufacturing these. products with established microbial fermentation processes and existing industrial infrastructure.
“Dapibus enables us to rapidly develop and efficiently manufacture new food proteins using established microbial fermentation infrastructure, while our commercialisation model creates opportunities for development revenue, licensing, commercial participation and future product sales,” said Hazelton.

The proteins being developed under Dyadic’s latest deal are intended for an array of food and nutrition applications, supporting improved functionality, texture and nutritional performance across next-gen food ingredients.
The programme will advance through strain optimisation, process development and commercial scale-up activities amid the company’s continued expansion of its food and nutrition portfolio with strategic partners.
Dyadic noted that Dapibus’s portfolio addresses applications ranging from dairy processing to premium nutrition ingredients, and its combination of rapid development, scalable microbial manufacturing and production efficiency can help innovators reach the market faster while improving manufacturing economics.
The new agreement is another example of the firm’s strategy of leveraging its proprietary microbial expression platforms to develop recombinant protein solutions across multiple markets. “Each new programme further strengthens the Dapibus platform as a repeatable engine for commercial growth,” Hazelton said.
