Indian AgriTech startup SUIND has raised ₹20.5 crore (approximately US$2.2 million) in seed funding to accelerate the commercial deployment of its autonomous agricultural drones and expand its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered aerial technology into industrial applications.

The investment round was led by Transition VC, with participation from IIMA Ventures, as investors continue to back precision agriculture solutions that improve farm productivity and operational efficiency.

The fresh capital will be used to scale the production and deployment of Bumblebee, SUIND’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-certified autonomous spraying drone, while advancing the development of WASP, a next-generation autonomous aerial platform designed for infrastructure inspection, surveillance and industrial operations. The company also plans to strengthen its proprietary computer vision technology and expand its engineering team to accelerate product innovation.

Founded in 2020 by Kunal Shrivastava and Kevin Kleber, SUIND develops autonomous unmanned aerial systems that rely on computer vision rather than conventional GPS navigation.

This approach enables drones to operate more effectively in low-altitude environments where GPS signals may be unreliable, making them suitable for precision spraying, crop monitoring, plantation management and other agricultural applications.

“Our goal is not simply to manufacture more drones, but to build the intelligence that allows aerial robots to perform complex, repetitive and hazardous work with greater safety, consistency and minimal human dependence,” said Kunal Shrivastava, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of SUIND.

The funding comes as demand for precision agriculture technologies continues to grow, with farmers increasingly adopting drones to optimise pesticide application, reduce labour costs, improve crop monitoring and minimise chemical waste. Analysts say autonomous aerial systems are becoming an important component of digital agriculture as producers seek technologies that improve productivity while supporting more sustainable farming practices.

Industry observers note that SUIND’s latest investment reflects growing investor confidence in AgriTech startups developing AI-enabled farm automation solutions.

Over the next 12 to 24 months, the company plans to expand Bumblebee’s commercial footprint while preparing WASP for entry into industrial and infrastructure inspection markets, positioning its technology beyond agriculture without losing its core focus on autonomous innovation.
