In-cosmetics Korea 2026: BASF to debut hydrophilic active delivery technology

BASF Personal Care will introduce its hydrophilic active delivery technology, Emulgade Verde PE, in the Asia Pacific at In-cosmetics Korea 2026, Seoul, South Korea (July 1–3).

Emulgade Verde PE is designed to simplify the delivery of hydrophilic actives without increasing formulation complexity, while maintaining product performance and efficiency. The ready-to-use drop-in solution is said to be applicable in a range of formulations and aligns with sustainability claims as it is readily biodegradable.

The ingredient enables the formation of niosome vesicles — a form of microscopic delivery capsules made from non-ionic surfactants. This allows formulators to incorporate hydrophilic actives into a product with minimal process adjustments.

According to BASF, independent testing demonstrates that formulations with Emulgade Verde PE boost the diffusion of hydrophilic actives into the skin. It also enhances transport across the skin barrier, amplifying formulation performance.

The delivery ingredient offers a mild profile compatible with sensitive skin, aligning it with applications across face, body, and hair care.

BASF is positioning Emulgade Verde PE as a readily biodegradable formulation solution.

Emulgade Verde PE is aligned with BASF’s eco-friendly formulation ambitions through its biodegradability and its “environmentally friendly,” solvent-free manufacturing process.

As part of its sustainability efforts, last week, BASF launched its Safe-by-Design concept that develops “future-proof” fragrance ingredients from inception. As part of the concept, BASF released Micadelva, the third addition to its Future-Proof-Palette, which aims to provide high- performing ingredients with forward-looking regulatory compliance.

“The compelling sustainability profile contributes to the green transformation of our customers. This enables our customers to innovate with confidence while maintaining creative performance in an evolving market and regulatory environment,” said Steffen Götz, senior VP of Aroma Ingredients at BASF.

BASF also launched two active collagen ingredients that emphasize a comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation earlier this year at In-cosmetics Global 2026, in Paris, France. SkinNexus Collag3n is a bio-identical Collagen III fragment aiming to “redefine” collagen banking. The second, NeoHelix Regenerate, is a high-performance precision peptide that enhances the skin’s natural self-repair mechanisms for adaptive collagen renewal.

Also at In-cosmetics Global 2026, the company launched its Beyond Beauty: Authentic+ concept. It emphasized the importance of emotional connection and sensoriality in a global climate dominated by digital beauty filters and AI-manipulated images. The campaign also maintained BASF’s sustainability red thread through ingredients that reduce CO2 footprints and prioritize renewable resources.
