The Theo Müller Group has acquired Berief Food, LLC, pending antitrust approval. The Beckum-based company will continue operating as a largely independent business unit within the Müller Group following the transaction.
Berief Food produces plant-based foods and ingredients and has expanded its presence in European markets in recent years. According to the company, the acquisition followed a review of financing options tied to planned international expansion, particularly in the Benelux region and Eastern Europe.
Berief stated that rising demand for plant-based products and planned growth initiatives increased the company’s capital requirements. The company considered several alternatives during the review process, including minority investments and strategic partnerships, before agreeing to the sale.
Financing specific expansion plans
“The sale follows a structured review process during which Berief evaluated various options for financing its continued growth,” the company said in a statement.
The companies said the transaction will support expanded export activities and additional investment in innovation while maintaining operations at Berief’s Beckum site.
