Bag-in-Box Barista Oat From Minor Figures Gets Green Light for Automated Coffee Dispensing

UK plant-based beverage brand Minor Figures has introduced a 2 x 5L Bag-in-Box (BiB) Barista Oat format designed for high-volume coffee and hospitality environments, becoming the first plant-based oat product approved by UberMilk for use in automated milk dispensing systems.

The product has been launched through selected on-trade wholesalers in the UK and Europe.

Built for automation

The format uses a Twist and Lock dispensing system and contains a reformulated gluten-free Barista Oat liquid developed specifically for coffee performance and automated systems. UberMilk tested the product in Germany across measures including foam texture, dispensing consistency, and machine compatibility before granting approval.

Target channels include contract catering operations, café groups, hotel F&B, university catering covered under TUCO, and vending and automated coffee environments.

Stuart Forsyth, co-founder and CEO of Minor Figures, stated, “We help high-volume cafés reduce oat milk cost per cup and speed up service by replacing cartons with a professional, automation-ready format. As coffee service continues to evolve, cafés need solutions that help teams move faster, reduce waste and maintain consistency under pressure.”

Operational case over retail format

Standard retail oat milk cartons are not designed for the demands of professional coffee service, where speed, consistency, and waste reduction carry real operational weight. The BiB format addresses those constraints directly, eliminating single-use cartons in busy service settings and standardising output across automated systems.

Minor Figures, which is B Corp-certified and positions all its products as 100% plant-based, has built its brand primarily within the speciality coffee trade since its founding in London. The company’s Barista Oat range has distribution across café and hospitality markets globally.

Forsyth added, “This is another breakthrough innovation for Minor Figures and a huge step forward for plant-based coffee service. Being approved by UberMilk reinforces the quality and performance of the product in professional café environments.”
