Parma-based plant-based dairy company Dreamfarm has appointed Sue Garfitt, former CEO of Alpro, to its Board of Directors as an independent member. The appointment comes as the company prepares to scale across Europe following a strong commercial performance in 2025.
Garfitt spent years at Alpro, one of Europe’s best-known plant-based brands, before it was acquired by Danone in 2017. Her addition to Dreamfarm’s board brings senior commercial and category-building experience at a time when the European plant-based dairy segment is becoming more competitive and quality-focused.
“I am confident that Dreamfarm will become a leading player in this space”
Garfitt stated, “I’m excited to join Dreamfarm at such a pivotal moment in its development. The company is well-positioned in a segment where consumer expectations continue to rise. There is a clear opportunity for brands that can deliver better-tasting, more authentic products using simpler ingredients.
“Equally important is the ability and commitment to execute across markets. Given the company’s product superiority and capabilities, I am confident that Dreamfarm will become a leading player in this space.”
Founded in 2021 by Maddalena Zanoni and Mattia Sandei, Dreamfarm closed last year with revenues approaching €2 million, more than double its 2024 figure. The company’s products are currently available in Italy, Benelux, France, and Germany, with a portfolio centered on fresh plant-based dairy alternatives.
CEO Giovanni Menozzi framed the company’s positioning around quality rather than substitution. “The plant-based category is evolving rapidly. It’s no longer just about offering an alternative, but about delivering better, more authentic products in terms of taste, ingredients and overall experience. We believe the next phase of the category will be driven by product quality and clear health benefits for consumers.”
Backed by Italian food industry figures
Dreamfarm has been backed since its founding by Italian entrepreneurs Francesco Mutti and Giampaolo Cagnin. Mutti commented on the latest development: “Dreamfarm represents a new generation of companies rethinking traditional food categories. We believed in the project from the very beginning, and the combination of product vision, execution, and now strengthened governance creates a strong foundation to support the company’s next phase of growth in Europe.”
