MaaT’s bid to overturn microbiome approval refusal suffers setback
Why it matters: Initial feedback from EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) suggests the biotech’s attempt to get the agency to overturn its original decision has failed. Confirmation of CHMP’s continued resistance to approval would intensify pressures on cash-strapped MaaT.

Cellectis scraps CAR-T pipeline in gene editing pivot
Why it matters: The move is a dramatic reset for one of Europe’s pioneers of off-the-shelf CAR-T. As recently as January, Cellectis described itself as a late-stage allogeneic CAR-T company and expected pivotal Phase 2 data from its lead program this year. It will now replace clinical-stage oncology assets with two programs that have yet to enter human testing.
Genfit plans Phase 2 liver failure trial after acquiring immunomodulator from Inotrem
Why it matters: Focused on ACLF, Genfit has built a pipeline led by the G1090N, which delivered Phase 1 data in January, and featuring multiple preclinical programs. The pipeline positions Genfit to treat various aspects of ACLF but, with the biotech ending a Phase 2 program last year over a safety signal, all the drug candidates are in early development.
