Genprex selected Andelyn Biosciences to support scale-up manufacturing for its diabetes gene therapy program. Its product candidate is designed to deliver the Pdx1 and MafA genes directly to the pancreas via the pancreatic duct using an AAV vector. The program is being developed as a potential treatment for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

When a patient is facing certain cancers or an immune condition, clinicians turn to their white blood cells for clues about disease progression and treatment effects.  Clinical labs isolate peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs)—which are predominantly immune cells—from a blood draw, and assess the abundance different cell types, along with some basic measures of how they’re functioning. PBMCs are in addition the starting point for CAR T cell therapies, which engineer a patient’s own immune cells to fight certain cancers.
