The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), in collaboration with Simon Fraser University (SFU), has opened registration for the 2026 APRU Food Security and Agritech Conference, inviting researchers, students, policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and agricultural practitioners to explore how emerging technologies can strengthen food security and build more resilient agrifood systems.
The conference will take place from 5–7 October 2026 in Vancouver, Canada, while registration closes on 6 September 2026.
Hosted by Simon Fraser University, the conference will examine how agritech innovations can address structural food security challenges, including affordability, accessibility, sustainability and the inclusion of smallholder farmers across the Asia-Pacific region.
Participants will also discuss how food and technology sovereignty can guide future agricultural innovation while ensuring technologies strengthen local capacity and support equitable food systems.
According to the organisers, the event will bring together experts from universities, government agencies, research institutions, international organisations and the private sector to exchange knowledge on artificial intelligence, digital agriculture, precision farming, climate resilience, soil intelligence and sustainable food production. Four specialised working groups will also provide opportunities for participants to collaborate on research and develop practical solutions to regional agricultural challenges.
