Parima Hits Multi-Tonne-Scale Cultivated Duck Production on Vow’s Production Line

France-based cultivated meat company Parima has produced cultivated duck at multi-tonne scale in a single 22,000-liter run, carried out on a production line operated by Australian partner Vow in Sydney. The company reported a 99% reduction in production cost compared with its earlier runs, attributing the decline to gains in cell-culture yield and the efficiencies of operating at larger volumes.

Vow describes the line as the largest cultivated meat production line built to date. Parima’s cells grow as an undifferentiated biomass in suspension, without scaffolds, microcarriers, growth factors, or a separate differentiation step, an approach closer to biomass fermentation than to the tissue-engineering methods used by some earlier cultivated meat developers.

“The process ran at 22,000 liters on the first attempt, with no performance loss compared to smaller scales. Combined with commercial-scale infrastructure like Vow’s, our breakthroughs open a new chapter for the sector,” said Dr. Victor Sayous, co-founder and CTO of Parima.

Shared infrastructure over owned plants

Producing on a partner’s line rather than a dedicated facility points to a change in how cultivated meat companies handle capital costs. Instead of each firm building and financing its own plant, the arrangement lets producers run output on infrastructure that already exists.

“Our platform has proven that cultivated cell production at 22,000 liters works at unit economics the industry can build on. What this collaboration adds is the demonstration that the economics Vow have already achieved work for partners too. PARIMA has been a strong partner in proving that, delivering results on the first attempt, and we’re excited about what comes next,” said George Peppou, founder of Vow.

According to Parima, the pattern was examined in a July 2026 analysis by management consulting firm Arthur D. Little. “Growth media is becoming a product bought from dedicated suppliers, bioproduction is being offered as a service through tolling and contract facilities, and existing food infrastructure is being reused downstream,” said Clément Santander, Partner at Arthur D. Little. “The model is shifting from owning every asset to building on an ecosystem of specialized partners, which is how mature biomanufacturing industrialized previously.”

Regulatory sequence continues

The run follows a period of regulatory progress for Parima, formed in October 2025 when Paris-based Gourmey acquired fellow French company Vital Meat. In April 2026, it became the first company approved for cultivated food across two species after Singapore cleared its cultivated duck, six months after its chicken approval. It completed a Food Standards Australia New Zealand risk assessment in May.
