Plant Forward on the Prairies Unveils Speaker Lineup for Saskatoon Conference

Plant Forward on the Prairies has confirmed its next wave of speakers for the September 21 to 23 conference in Saskatoon, with government officials and executives from Louis Dreyfus Company, Roquette, and SunOpta set to headline sessions on trade, investment, and food security.

The event, now in its third edition and the first held outside Toronto, is organized by Protein Industries Canada, Pulse Canada, and Plant-Based Foods of Canada at TCU Place. It will run alongside Protein Industries Canada’s Annual General Meeting.

Trade and food security take center stage

The program’s focus on trade positioning is reflected in its opening panel, where Diedrah Kelly, Executive Director of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Agriculture and Agri-Food Office, will appear alongside Dr. Manoj Kumar, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Louis Dreyfus Company’s Plant Proteins business, which operates a pea protein facility in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. A separate session pairs Lawrence Hanson, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, with Michael Graydon, CEO of Food, Health & Consumer Products of Canada, to address food security strategy.

Consumer-facing themes get their own slot, with Roquette’s Head of Marketing for the Americas, Richard LaBonté, addressing how price sensitivity, health claims, and clean label demands are reshaping ingredient formulation. The conference closes with a dedicated investment track examining capital access for Canadian plant protein companies, moderated by Protein Industries Canada CEO Tyler Groeneveld.

Registration is open, with discounted rates for members of the three host organizations. This year’s location change to Saskatchewan puts the Prairie region’s crop and processing base at the center of the conference for the first time.
