Beyond Steak Filet Debuts at Wegmans and H-E-B in First Retail Listings

Beyond Meat has brought its Beyond Steak Filet to brick-and-mortar retail for the first time, with the plant-based cut now stocked at Wegmans and H-E-B stores. The launch follows a limited release through the company’s direct-to-consumer channel and marks the product’s first appearance on supermarket shelves.

Each serving of the filet contains 28 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and 1 gram of saturated fat. The ingredient list is led by water, wheat gluten, and faba bean protein, with avocado oil and mycelium also among the primary components, alongside brown rice powder, oat bran, and a starter culture. According to Beyond Meat, the filet is also one of more than 20 products across its lineup to receive Clean Label Project Certification, a designation that assesses products for ingredient purity and label transparency.

Steakhouse and direct-to-consumer trials preceded retail

Beyond Steak Filet first appeared last year at BOA Steakhouse, a fine-dining chain with locations in California and Texas, where it featured in a steak frites dish developed with the restaurant’s culinary team. The product then moved to Beyond Meat’s direct-to-consumer site in October 2025, where, according to the company, it became the platform’s top-selling item.

Joining a widening whole-cut category

The retail rollout places Beyond Steak Filet within a small but growing field of whole-cut plant-based steak products, a category that remains far less developed than ground or pattied formats. Competitors pursuing similar territory include Impossible Foods, which has introduced its own plant-based steak product (in bites format), and Juicy Marbles, known for its filet mignon line.

Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, said: “I believe Beyond Steak Filet is our most compelling center-of-the-plate innovation since the Beyond Burger. The product marks the introduction of the powerhouse ingredient mycelium into our portfolio and delivers 28g of clean protein with just 1g of saturated fat from avocado oil.

“Whereas consumers are typically advised to limit their consumption of steak, the remarkable nutritional profile of Beyond Steak Filet means you can turn any meal into a steak occasion.”
