Alpro and Starbucks Germany are expanding their partnership. Effective immediately, Starbucks is adding Alpro Plant Protein Soy Drink to the permanent menu at its German locations.
Plant-based protein drinks in two varieties
The launch includes two plant-based protein drinks: the Protein Vanilla Plant-Based Latte and the Protein Matcha Plant-Based Latte made with Alpro’s Plant Protein Soy Drink, which contains 5 g of plant-based protein per 100 ml. In addition to these specific creations, customers can choose the protein drink as a customization option for all existing coffee beverages for an additional charge.
Lukas Porazil, Market Director at Starbucks Germany, says, “Our guests are looking for beverages that combine great taste with added benefits. Our partnership with Alpro allows us to offer plant-based protein options that can be easily incorporated into everyday life and existing coffee moments.”

For Alpro, this expanded partnership means a stronger presence in the German foodservice sector. The soy beverage complements the existing plant-based barista options made from oats, almonds, coconut, and soy.
The “Proffee” trend
According to the companies, this launch is their response to the growing “Proffee” trend (protein coffee) and the rising demand for functional foods in the foodservice market.
The partnership between Alpro and Starbucks is based on a shared ambition to make it easier to increase plant-based protein intake. Christine Borghardt, Category Director for Plant-Based Products in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at Danone, states, “We’re seeing a clear shift toward more protein in everyday life—and coffee is increasingly becoming part of that lifestyle. This partnership allows us to translate the growing protein-coffee trend into an accessible, plant-based option that integrates naturally into existing coffee moments.”
