Chunk Foods, the New York-based maker of fermentation-based whole-cut plant-based proteins, has secured listings at Sprouts Farmers Market and H-E-B while simultaneously rolling out its Whole Foods Market placement nationwide.
The Sprouts listing covers roughly 480 stores across the US. The H-E-B placement puts the brand across the Texas retailer’s network. The Whole Foods rollout, which began in the Northeast earlier this year, is now expanding nationally.
A different kind of product
Chunk’s products use solid-state fermentation, the same biological process behind aged cheese and miso, to build fibrous, meat-like textures without binders, stabilizers, or artificial additives. The ingredient list runs to four items: fermented wheat and soy protein, coconut oil, vitamin B12, and iron. Products carry Keto, Non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal certifications, and deliver between 25 and 37 grams of protein per serving, depending on the cut.
The company’s Moroccan Spiced Cubes received a 2026 FABI Award from the National Restaurant Association, which recognized 28 products at its annual show in Chicago in March.

Foodservice foundation
Chunk built its commercial base in foodservice before moving into retail, and now counts more than 3,000 foodservice accounts across the US, including properties under the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons brands, NBA team dining programs, and independent steakhouses.
Amos Golan, founder and CEO, stated, “Plant-based meat does not need another burger. It needs to be exciting again. That is the idea behind Chunk Foods. Consumers are looking for cleaner, high-protein options that deliver a real eating experience, something they can actually cook, serve, and feel good about putting on the table.”
